Valdosta Hosts GPA Fall Conference

On September 29 the Georgia Planning Association (GPA) Fall Conference will kick off in Valdosta, Georgia. The conference, which will last through October 1, will take place at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center.

More than 40 sessions and 4 mobile workshops will showcase this year’s theme, “Transition to a Sustainable Georgia,” and will offer continuing education while highlighting the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development that planners must face as they guide communities to their own promising future.

Mobile workshops will showcase Valdosta’s efforts to make their city truly sustainable, including a rare glimpse into Moody Air Force Base. Also, as a special feature of this conference, there will be a charrette providing participants the chance to work with their fellow planners on a newly acquired local property, the Five Points property.

Traditional conference events will also feature with a plenary speaker, receptions, and the annual auction to benefit the GPA Memorial Foundation. There will also be opportunities to be involved with the GPA Board and several committees, plus special events for the Young Planners Group and special sessions for planning commissioners.

Registration is still available online – visit for details. Hope to see you there!
