Application Period for Model Atlanta Regional Commission Open Until April 13

The Atlanta Regional Commission is now recruiting students for the next Model Atlanta Regional Commission (MARC) course, which begins in September. MARC is an exciting leadership development opportunity for teenagers in Metro Atlanta.

The deadline to apply is Friday, April 13.

Public and private school students, as well as home schooled students, currently in the 9th or 10th grade in the 10-county region, are eligible. The class meets about one Saturday a month between September and February.

In addition to presentations and hands-on activities on community design and quality growth, transportation, water, economic development, and aging, students develop their own proposals for making the region a better place to live. After debating those resolutions at their own board meeting, they present them to the ARC board. MARC helps students improve their communication and presentation skills, fosters their ability to collaborate and work in groups toward a common goal, and enhances their research capabilities.
