2013 ARC Developments of Excellence: Call for Nominations Now Open

Each year, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) honors trend-setting developments in the Atlanta region with the Developments of Excellence (DOE) Awards. Past winners have been honored for exemplifying urban revitalization, transit accessibility, affordable housing, conservation and sustainability. The program is now in its 15th year.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 DOE Awards, and submissions are encouraged from developers, builders, private, public and nonprofit entities for their recently completed or nearly complete projects.

In addition to the primary DOE award, ARC offers additional award categories that reflect the incredible places that comprise our diverse region. The first category is the LCI Achievement Award, which honors a community that has excelled in the implementation of its Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) plan. The second category is called “Great Places” and allows nominations for places, streets, communities, neighborhoods, civic spaces or parks that contribute to the Atlanta region’s character and provide choices for where and how people work and live. Great Places are enjoyable, safe and desirable and can serve as regional models for future growth – the possibilities are open.

Visit ARC’s Developments of Excellence webpage to find out more, read about past winners, and nominate a deserving project, community, civic space, etc. by the close of business on Friday, September 20. Then register for ARC’s annual State of the Region Breakfast on Friday, November 1 to learn the winners.

Please e-mail questions or completed nomination packets to Andrew Smith at asmith@atlantaregional.com or mail to his attention at 40 Courtland Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
