South Metro Development Outlook Set for February 18 in College Park

The 2015 South Metro Development Outlook (SMDO) is set for Wednesday, February 18 from 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park.

SMDO serves as a platform to convene professionals with an interest in fostering smart growth in the southern crescent, highlighting the City of Atlanta and Clayton, Coweta, Douglas, Fayette, Henry, Spalding and South Fulton Counties. The event features industry experts and government officials providing invaluable information relevant to South Metro’s continued growth.

This year’s conference will feature topics including the new Clayton County/MARTA partnership, film industry growth, BeltLine West and South Metro economic forecasting, and more. It will culminate with a talk by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA) general manager Miguel Southwell, providing insight on new developments planned for H-JAIA, including the 24-hour “Airport City” and its economic impact.

2015 TIP/LCI Project Solicitation Now Open

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is currently accepting applications for federal funding to projects under the Surface Transportation Program – Urban (STP-Urban) and Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) for FY 2016-2019.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 6.

Focus areas are:

(1) new infrastructure projects that are consistent with the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI);

(2) existing federally funded TIP projects requiring additional federal funds;

(3) transportation planning or project feasibility studies; and

(4) new infrastructure projects or initiatives that support PLAN 2040 Objectives and the Decision-Making Framework.

All project proposals recommended for funding will be incorporated into a subsequent TIP amendment, to be adopted later in 2015.

LCI-specific questions have been integrated into the “Infrastructure” application, which is to be completed for all new projects.

LCI “office hours” will be established for LCI sponsors to sign up, in 20-minute increments, to discuss their specific project application questions. Dates and hours are TBD. An online sign-up will be sent out to LCI sponsors soon.

The Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District (CID) is excited to announce the kickoff of the Tucker-Northlake CID Master Plan Study.
